What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that are designed to fit over your front teeth and cover up imperfections like stains, uneven teeth, gaps in your smile, and other such cosmetic problems. They are similar to dental crowns, but they only cover up the front surfaces of your teeth, rather than the entire tooth. Thanks to their versatility and durability, veneers are an ideal option for covering up cosmetic dental issues.

The Veneers Placement Process

Initial Consultation

First, you’ll need to come to our office to consult with one of our doctors and see if veneers are right for you. Together, you and your dentist at Goldstein Garber & Salama can decide on the right treatment.

Smile design

After your initial consultation, you will be able to receive a virtual smile design mockup so you can see how your veneers will look. This is an important step of the process as it will ensure you love the aesthetics of your new smile and a confident and ready to move forward with treatment.

Tooth Preparation & Temporaries

At your next appointment, your teeth will be trimmed to prepare for veneer placement. Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth, and your veneers will be built in our in-house dental lab. You’ll get a set of temporary veneers to cover up and protect your teeth until your next appointment.

Final Veneer Placement

Once your permanent veneers have been completed, you’ll come back for a final appointment at our office. Your temporary veneers will be removed, then your dentist will clean your teeth, check your permanent veneers to make sure they fit and bond them in place permanently with dental cement.

Are No-Prep Veneers Right for Me?

No-prep veneers are essentially the same as regular veneers, but they are made of a very thin yet durable material. Since they are so thin, they can often be placed without trimming any of your enamel, making them a good option if you don’t like the idea of non-reversible treatment. However, no-prep veneers are not as effective for some purposes, like covering up severely-discolored teeth. Consult with your dentist at Goldstein Garber & Salama to learn more, and see if no-prep veneers are right for you.

How to Care for Your Veneers

Brush & Floss

Simply brush twice a day for two minutes and floss once a day to keep your teeth and your veneers clean.

See Your Dentist for Preventive Care

Come to Goldstein Garber & Salama to see one of our doctors every six months for a teeth cleaning and oral exam to ensure your teeth are healthy and strong.

Avoid Premature Damage

Don’t bite hard foods (ice, almonds, popcorn kernels, etc.) with your front teeth. Avoid using your teeth as “tools” to tear open bags, and don’t chew on non-food objects like pens or pencils, as these habits can all prematurely damage or dislodge your veneers.
