After recieving his Masters, Dr. Abtin worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for three years. He also was a consultant to the World Health Organization for eradication of the polio virus in Bihar, India.
Dr. Abtin has extensive research and academic interests and has presented multiple articles at national and international meetings. He is actively engaged in research projects involving different aspects of maxillofacial surgery.
He speaks three languages (English, Spanish and Persian) and relates that the most important and rewarding part of his work is the care of his patients. He describes his philosophy of patient care as approaching treatment through the perspective of the patient, and emphasizes that physician-patient communication is essential in establishing high quality and superior care for the patients.

Dr. Abtin is commited to involvement in research. His previous studies have been published in several journals including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Sports Medicine, and the Pediatric Infections Disease Journal.
Dr. Abtin enjoys Yoga, chess and mountain climbing.
