Growing up, Dr. Wendy AuClair Clark saw first-hand the impact that a team of dental specialists (orthodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics) had on changing her younger brother’s life and his smile. Wanting to help people and make that same impact, she chose a career as a dental specialist.
Prosthodontics is the ADA recognized specialty of restoring and replacing teeth, both functionally and esthetically. After dental school, Dr. Wendy AuClair completed a three-year residency in prosthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where she was selected as Chief Resident her senior year and completed additional research and coursework to earn a Masters of Science in Clinical Dentistry.
Dr. Wendy AuClair Clark holds a faculty position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has lectured for dentists, dental students, and dental school applicants about various prosthodontic subjects. As someone who truly believes in the value of mentorship and education, Dr. AuClair looks forward someday to a “second career” as a full time educator.
Dr. AuClair Clark has also lectured extensively on tobacco cessation. She spearheaded a program with one of her mentors and colleagues at Marquette University to incorporate tobacco cessation into the school. She has provided both group and individual tobacco cessation counseling for several years.
In addition to lecturing, she has presented research at national meetings and co-authored articles that have been published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and the Journal of Prosthodontics.
Before going to dental school, Dr. AuClair Clark studied to be a concert clarinetist. She currently plays with the Gwinnett Community Band, which performs throughout Metro Atlanta.
